An Amazing Woman

1886vllers-abbey-patrina2I spent Saturday afternoon with the most amazing woman.

At first glance you wouldn’t think she would be the type. How many women are willing to put on her overalls and gloves and work gathering branches and logs and leaves in March and then building a bonfire? We followed up with fresh mulch a couple of days later.

Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens iron,
so a friend sharpens a friend.

patrina-rakeLiving life together includes sharing in the unpleasant tasks of the weekend. So I made use of the chainsaw. She used the rake. We worked and talked and laughed through the afternoon. Having Patrina around made the day more enjoyable and so much more was accomplished than I could or would have done on my own.

We capped the day off with dinner out – Quarter Pounders at the McDonalds drive thru.

Maybe I should plan something a little more when we celebrate our 25th anniversary this summer.

Beth and I will celebrate 45 years this month, but I don’t recall her ever handling a rake. Then, again, I’ve never taken up the chainsaw. Marriage is singular, I think, when it comes to a couple making it work. You two have done well. You “fit” and make a great pair…
