God’s Personal Promise

Read: Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, whohave been called according to his purpose.

Reflect:

I heard a man say today that he has stopped listening to the news of the day. For him, it is just too much. In difficult times like these, we can find comfort in today’s passage as we learn to trust God more deeply.  For the follower of Christ, verse 28 tells us that God “works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

How about when you feel surrounded by your enemies or circumstances with no way out? Verse 31 tell us that “if God is for us, who can be against us?” Is God for me? Am I for God? If the answer is affirmative then I can be confident in the end result.

Respond:

Paul’s message to the Romans was one of perspective. Paul wanted them to take the long view of life. That reminds me of a question I heard asked some time ago – What will matter in your life a hundred years from now? What will be most important then?
