Read: Romans 12;2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
In the verse above, Paul begins by challenging us to be non-conformists. Instead of going along with the culture, we are to be transformed by the renewal of our minds, But how?
Proverbs 23: 7 begins with the following words,” For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…”
It is all too easy to be molded into the culture’s way of thinking…about anything. We are literally bombarded with messages every day that are in direct opposition to the way a person who is following hard after God is living.
Romans 8: 5 tells us, “Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires”
For the follower of Christ, we must recognize that renewal of the mind comes from deep within thanks to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, but we can also make a conscious decision to put ourselves in a position to be transformed.
When I am filled with the Spirit of God, I don’t have more of Him. He has more of me.
