Inciting others?

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.

2 Corinthians 5:17-20

I want to be one of those rare Christians whose very presence incites others to also be better Christians.” –  A.W. Tozer

An ambassador can be defined as “a person who acts as a representative or promoter of a specified activity – i.e., an official representative to another country.”

According to the passage above from Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, each of us is called to be an ambassador who has one goal in mind: the ministry of reconciliation through the work of Christ.

  • First, we are new creations in Christ. The old nastiness is gone and Christ gives us a fresh start.
  • God is the source of reconciliation. He took the initiative. He took the first step through the work of His Son.
  • He has entrusted us with the message of reconciliation so that the appeal to salvation is made by God through us.

Some of us are ambassadors for our favorite sports teams – we wear the colors. During my work, I am a type of ambassador for my company. At times some may think I am an ambassador for a particular type of phone, camera, or computer.

Would people say that I am an effective ambassador for Christ? It is something to think about, isn’t it?
