Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ,
Romans 1:1-6
Late last week, a younger man offered me a couple of prayer books based on the Bahai faith and then mentioned to me that he had read parts of the Quran. We only spoke briefly, but I reminded him of the truth expressed in the verses above in Paul’s introduction to the letter to the church at Rome.
As Paul begins his letter he reminds the church in Rome that Jesus was promised through the prophets and the words were ultimately fulfilled by Jesus’ resurrection.
It may sound like a broken record, but if Jesus Christ is literally risen from the dead, then the faith expressed by those who follow the universalist Bahai faith or those who follow the Muslim faith will all bow to Christ. If he is not risen, then you and I are wasting our time.
