The goal for these daily thoughts is to encourage you in the Faith. We should have a genuine hope as followers of Christ, but there are days and seasons of life that are sometimes discouraging. In those times, it is all too easy to get caught up in the present turmoil and lose sight of what’s most important, right?
Read through the Psalms and see for yourself!
Since I’m writing about meaningful songs (in my life), I should include this from Keith Green. I remember years ago, playing my guitar and singing these words to myself in a darkened room. I don’t remember the circumstances, but I remember how these words expressed my feelings.
I am not able to solve many of my problems, but unfortunately, I am too dependent on me and then these words apply to my life.
My eyes are dry, my faith is old.
My heart is hard, my prayers are cold.
But I know how I ought to be,
alive to You and dead to me.
Oh what can be done for an old heart like mine?
Soften it up with oil and wine!
The oil is You, Your Spirit of love
Please wash me anew
In the wine of Your blood
My eyes are dry, my faith is old.
My heart is hard, my prayers are cold.
But I know how I ought to be,
alive to You and dead to me.
That’s it. A very simple song communicates my need of surrender and dependence on God. It’s a simple prayer we may all need to pray sometimes.
