Faith Follows When We Can’t See What is Ahead

By faith the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land, but the Egyptians, when they attempted to do the same, were drowned. By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days. By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.

Hebrews 11:29-31

Think you have life figured out? Most of us have lived long enough to face the circumstances that challenge our faith on some days.

The people of Israel learned that their salvation was personal. God opened the way through the Red Sea and the people crossed.

When the people finally made it into the Promised Land, they learned that God’s way of doing things is a little unorthodox to our way of thinking. Imagine seeing the walls of the city fall without a battle or any type of physical attack.

Finally, think of Rahab who demonstrates that by faith anyone can be saved. Anyone. And this same woman is listed prominently in the genealogy of the Savior

Life’s circumstances sometimes look dark. Sometimes there is only the slightest glimmer of hope, but by faith we follow even when we don’t understand, don’t we?
