This week, I’ve been listening to a series of sermons on the topic of giving thanks to God and for the past couple of days I’ve been thinking about these two verses –
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16
…God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5L8
I have much to be thankful for, but as a follower of Christ everything is built upon God’s plan for salvation for us because of His great love for undeserving people like me (Romans 5:8).
Jesus communicated that message in one of the most well known verses in the New Testament. God loved the world (all of mankind). He demonstrated that love by providing His Son as a sacrifice for our sin and so we if we believe we can be thankful for the promise of eternal life with our Creator!
As you prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow, start at this point and do as the song suggested yesterday. Make a list. Count your blessings. They are many.
