How would you complete the sentence above?
Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.
Hebrews 13:15
Worship is the “fruit of our lips”. An orange tree produces oranges. A tomato plant bears tomatoes. A Christian should produce worship with our lips, but it is more than the songs we sing. The fruit of our lips should be evident in our daily conversation. Do my words bring honor to God?
Worship is “doing good”. What does doing good look like? Do we really need a definition for this one? We know when we are honoring others by doing good. The key is to consider our actions as literal worship before Almighty God.
Finally, according to the writer of Hebrews, worship is giving. Followers of Christ are generous. Period. And when we share it is a “sacrifice pleasing to God”.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
Hebrews 13:16
Today, take a moment to consider the words you will say, the good you have the opportunity to do, and the generosity you can practice on this day.
