But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
Matthew 10:30
Usually, when I hear the verse above mentioned, many pastors or teachers end up making a bald joke of some kind, but the message of the passage is not about the number of hairs that are or aren’t found on your head.
In context, Jesus is teaching on the subject of fear and He uses a common sparrow to make His point – “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows”(Matthew 10: 29-31).
If the lesser (sparrows) are important to our Father, then how much more valuable is the greater (you)? When Jesus says that the Father has numbered the hairs on your head, He is indicating just how aware the Father is of your circumstances.
God is aware of your physical condition. Your temptations. Your successes. Your failures. Your pressures. The condition of your relationships… And God not only knows, but because He values you, He cares.
Psalm 55:22 reminds us again to “cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”
What’s going on in your life today? What kind of confidence do these verses give you that God cares about you individually?
