“For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed. From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. But you say, ‘How shall we return?’

Malachi 3: 6-7

Consistency. When we consider the character of God, He is always the same. Jeremiah reminds us in his Lamentations –

But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3-21-23

The people of Israel were also consistent, but not in a good way. Generation after generation turned aside and was unfaithful, but still, God promises those who return to Him, He will meet and embrace.

The LORD is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul who seeks him.
It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the LORD.

Lamentations 3:25-26
