Searched and known

O LORD, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.

Psalm 139:1-3
Like the church at Ephesus, sometimes I am too wrapped up in doing and don’t spend enough time reflecting.

Currently, I’m reading a book written before I was born. The Pursuit of God, by A.W. Tozer. The back cover of the editing I’m reading states that it is “an invitation to think deeply about your faith as you come alive to God’s presence surrounding, sustaining, and – yes – pursuing you,

So today, we’ll start considering David’s words from the 139th Psalm.

Reflect on the truths stated above:
God has searched and known you. In a world of eight billion people, God knows you by name.
He knows when you rest in the evening and when you wake in the morning. He knows every step you make between the two.
He knows your thoughts. That’s a scary one, isn’t it? But He doesn’t turn away.
He is acquainted with all your ways. He knows you and invites you into His presence.
A Spiritual Kingdom lies all about us, embracing us, enclosing us, altogether within reach of our inner selves waiting for us to recognize it. God Himself is here waiting for our response to His Presence.

A.W. Tozer
