So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Romans 10:17
This week I listened as leaders spoke of the need to present the right message to the right people at the right time. Over the years, I’ve often linked the messages I hear in the corporate world to the necessity of telling the story of the Gospel to those who may hear.
In the passage above, we find that the source of true faith is only found in the genuine hope in Christ.
“For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men” (1 Corinthians 1:22-25).
Sometimes people hear this hope and claim it is not enough. The Jewish people largely fail to recognize Christ as the Suffering Messiah and many of the wise consider the death and resurrection as nothing more than a fairytale. But, as Paul writes, the Jews looked for supernatural signs and others looked for a logical response but for both, there is only – “Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”
The Gospel is the right message for everyone, everywhere.
