Wasted days, redeemed and restored

by | Jul 3, 2024 | Genuine Hope | 0 comments

I will restore to you the years
that the swarming locust has eaten,
the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter,
my great army, which I sent among you.
“You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied,
and praise the name of the LORD your God,
who has dealt wondrously with you.
And my people shall never again be put to shame.
You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel,
and that I am the LORD your God and there is none else.
And my people shall never again be put to shame.

Joel 2: 25-27

I remember the title of a song, “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights.” The title kind of says it all, doesn’t it? How many of us have some of those wasted days in our past? Consider this from David Wilkerson –

“Take those old wounds—the worries and regrets about your wasted years—and let God restore to you the very years that were taken away. Then press on toward the prize of your high calling in him!”

David Wilkerson

In the passage above, the repentant receives a promise of the

  • restoration of ” the years that the swarming locust has eaten.”
  • You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God.
  • You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God and there is none else.
  • And my people shall never again be put to shame.

What has been lost will be restored. You will praise God for his blessings and know that God alone is God and shame will be a thing of the past.

I am reminded of the words found in Revelation –

And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”

Revelation 21:5

We haven’t fully experienced these yet, but the promise remains for those who repent and fully trust in Christ.
