If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
2 Corinthians 5:13-15
Are you willing to be viewed as “out of your mind” when it comes to the Gospel? During my daily work, many of the people I see view the Gospel as a kind of nonsense. Over the years, I’ve tried to engage in conversations when a door is open, but most of the time those same doors slam closed. I can think of one man in particular who no longer wants to engage with me.
That’s the risk I think Paul is describing above. Others challenged Paul’s sanity when King Agrippa say to Paul, “You are out of your mind; your great learning is driving you out of your mind” (Acts 26:24). Paul was passionate about the faith whether he was standing in the presence of the king, the marketplace or in a one-on-one conversation. Is that a risk you are willing to take today if an opportunity presents itself?
We must if we believe that “Christ’s love compels us.” If we believe that He died and was resurrected why wouldn’t we be willing to share? If we believe there are consequences of living outside of Christ’s salvation, we should be willing to risk ridicule so that others experience that same compelling love, don’t you agree?
Who might be willing to hear you today?
