A warning worth repeating.

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

Ephesians 4:11-13

When Paul wrote to the Ephesians about the need to grow into maturity, he then described the dangers of not growing deeper in the faith.

A young child can be easily misled, right? Likewise, a person who is not grounded in the faith is susceptible to false teaching. A person without a foundation can easily latch on to the latest idea from a motivational messenger without carefully evaluating the truth of the doctrine and this is the kind of warning Paul delivered to the Galatians as well because not every “leader” will point you in the right direction.

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

Galatians 1:8-9

It is a warning worth repeating, don’t you think?
