And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God
Colossians 1: 9-10
So if you’re able to begin your day with time for God, how does the rest of the day go? Are you aware of the opportunities that come before you? When you think of your daily life as a follower of Christ, consider this quote.
“Have you ever realized that you can give things to God that are of value to Him? Or are you just sitting around daydreaming about the greatness of His redemption, while neglecting all the things you could be doing for Him? I’m not referring to works which could be regarded as divine and miraculous, but ordinary, simple human things – things which would be evidence to God that you are totally surrendered to Him.”
Oswald Chambers
For the last couple days we’ve been considering our attitudes and our actions regarding our lives as they are centered on Christ and the Gospel. As Chambers writes, it is time that we take advantage of the opportunities right in front of us…”ordinary, simple human things.”
It may be speaking a kind word of encouragement to a coworker, telling the truth even when it may work to your disadvantage in a selling environment, or even pausing for a moment as you pray over lunch. Ordinary, simple human things.
How about memorizing these verses as a reminder –
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
Colossians 3: 23-24
