I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20
A friend of mine who is now with the Lord, used to speak of his life as a follower of Christ as “Christ in me.” It’s hard to explain, but he didn’t just say those words, he spoke the phrase so earnestly that you could somehow feel those words.
Christ isn’t satisfied with a room of honor in our lives. He wants us completely. So my goal is for us to consider that His presence should be so real to us that He permeates our being, our lives.
Paul was confident in his own life to the point of encouraging others to follow his example (1 Corinthians 11:1). From his writings, it is evident that Christ was both in his mind and his actions, in his thoughts and in his work. Everything revolved around the person of Christ.
This isn’t mystical, but practical. Paul led a disciplined life. He purposefully set out to follow Christ and did not attempt to exclude any part of his life. He was wholly committed and surrendered. When we reach that point in our lives we can then realize that it is “no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” we can expect our lives to be transformed.
