By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
Hebrews 11:7
This morning I heard the following line in a radio commercial for a commercial supply company – “If you don’t live it, you don’t believe it.”
I’m not sure about the supply company, but the message certainly rings true for followers of Christ just as it did for Noah as he “did all that the Lord commanded him. And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood” (Genesis 7: 5,7).
It was a monumental task, but Noah didn’t just listen to God’s instructions, he acted in faith and obedience by following God’s plan to save to the last detail.
We weren’t give a blueprint to build an ark, but God’s word does tell us how to act on our faith.
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
James 2:14-17
Are we living out our faith according to the Scriptures? Does the Bible inform our thinking and how we live? Are we living what we believe?
