With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say in that day:
Isaiah 12: 3,4
“Give thanks to the LORD,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.
My immediate response to the passage above is found in the encounter of Jesus with the Samaritan woman at the well we read in John’s Gospel. In short, the woman approached the well to draw water and after an encounter with Jesus, her life was changed. He offered her the living water of salvation and in the end, she “left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?”(John 4:28-29),
That’s the kind of experience Isaiah promises in verses above. Notice the joy found in Salvation. It should do for us as the woman at the well. We should be the people who not only give thanks to God, but “make known his deeds among the peoples” just as the woman who told everyone in her town.
As the end of that visit to a Samaritan town, the people responded –
They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.”
John 4: 42
What about us? Are we experiencing the joy of the LORD and keeping it to ourselves?
