Even the very least can…

Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s grace, which was given me by the working of his power. To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things, so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 3:7-10

In several of his letters, Paul refers to himself as the least of the apostles or indicates he was not worthy of the title in some way. Why? In his first letter to the Corinthians, he wrote, “I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God”(1 Corinthians 15:9).

Paul reminds me of a pastor friend of mine. As a. young man he was far from God, but once he found the LORD and was found by the LORD, his life was radically changed and he is unwavering in his commitment to the Gospel.

For Paul, God’s grace enabled him to preach Christ to the Gentile people of the known world inside the Roman Empire, and through the ministry of Paul and others, God used His church to make the gospel known in every corner including the “rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.”

You and I are not Paul, but there are openings for each of us to reach those around us to bring light into a dark world. What opportunities has God given you to spread the message to the world around you?
