Never Forget Who You Are

by | Apr 27, 2020 | Romans 12 | 0 comments

Read: Romans 12:3

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

Reflect:

I’ve heard it said that our circumstances do not necessarily build our character as much as a crisis often reveals our character. So, with that in mind, what have you noticed about yourself over the last few weeks?

In the verse above, Paul tells us to give some thought to as to how we think of ourselves, but first let’s consider what God thinks of you. Here are a few thoughts from Scripture –

  • God uniquely created you. – For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well (Psalm 139: 13-14).
  • God placed followers in His family – Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household (Ephesians 2:19),
  • God gifted you to fulfill His purpose – For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10).

Respond:

Never forget who you are by starting to view yourself as loved by God,
