A Personal Tipping Point Leads to Life Change

Read: Luke 15:17

“When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home, even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger!”

Reflect:

A tipping point can be defined as “the point at which a series of small changes or incidents becomes significant enough to cause a larger, more important change.”

I think each of us can identify a tipping point in our own lives. Most of the time it was based on a culmination of events and many of them were painful, right? The son known as the prodigal in Jesus’ parable experienced a downward of his own. He squandered his wealth, faced unemployment during a famine, and eventually ended up working in a pig pen – a job no respected Jewish young man would consider.

But then there was a tipping point, a moment when “he finally came to his senses.” As Jeremiah wrote in Lamentations 3:40, he considered the way he was living and then he acted. “So he got up and went to his father” (Luke 15:20).

Respond:

Evaluation of our lives is one thing, but without a tipping point, change doesn’t happen. It’s time to get up and go.
