Taking the time to pray

2 Thessalonians 3:1

Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith.

On Saturday, we briefly met Pastor Andrew Brunson who was released as a political prisoner in Turkey a couple of years ago. Patrina recognized him and after greeting her, He asked how he could pray for her, and then he did just that by taking a few minutes to actually pray.

How many times have you been asked to pray for someone or for some crisis in the life of someone else? How many times have we nodded that we would pray and then give little thought and even less prayer?

As Paul concludes his second letter to the Thessalonians, he asks specifically for the believers to pray for his ministry. His request was simple – “that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored…”

I think most of us have good intentions. We intend to pray, but often life gets the best of us.

Here’s a challenge for today: If you do not have a prayer list, start one today and make it a regular part of your day. Everyday.
