Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

Years ago, decades really, we sang these words in church. It was fine and easy enough to sing until that last line which often sounded more like “LMNOP” in the alphabet song. It was fast and often jumbled.

Still, those words are true. We can follow the directions of “fear not” because we are dependent and confident in the LORD.

We are not dismayed. We are not shocked or alarmed or unsettled (at least we should not be) because God is good and faithful.

He is the One who strengthens us. He helps us with our weaknesses. He holds us in the palm of His righteous hand.

We need to remember these characteristics of God. He is faithful and true in all things. He is for us when everyone and everything else seems to be opposed to us.
