How beautiful on the mountains
Isaiah 52:7
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”
You’ve probably heard the phrase to be “the hands and feet of Christ” in our world.
Nearly two decades ago, I edited videos for several mission trips featuring young people from our church and used a then-popular song called “Hands and Feet” by Audio Adrenaline to tie all the footage from different continents together.
The song speaks to one man’s desire to be actively engaged in God’s call on his life to impact the world around him and I generally think most of us associate the idea of being Jesus’ hands and feet with the idea of world missions.
In the tenth chapter of Romans, Paul refers to Isaiah’s passage above describing the beauty of bringing the Good News of the Gospel to others in a mission context. I think that is certainly true, but while most of us can give financially toward missions, there is also a need in the world right around us.
When we travel to work or the grocery store or to the home of a friend, there are opportunities all around us. Do we see them? Do we make the most of those situations on behalf of Christ? Are we aware?
