For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us.  Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever.  So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:9-11

This afternoon I attended the funeral of the mom of my best friend through high school and college. Throughout the service, the focus was on Eliza’s life, but also on her faith in Christ. It is that same hope expressed in the passage above.

Time and again, Paul tells his readers to encourage each other. Today I heard encouragement through the songs that were sung, the words of my friend who is now also a brother in Christ, and the brief sermon that was preached to those of us in the chapel.

Today, we will have the opportunity to encourage someone else in the faith. Look for the opportunities that present themselves in your life today.
