David referred to the benefits of following the LORD and then after describing the wonders of God’s word, the psalmist expresses just how valued God is and should be to each of us.

Everything God reveals to us is for our good. As the psalmist wrote earlier, our souls are revived, wisdom is gained, hearts are made glad, and our minds are enlightened, all because of God. He continues…

Psalm 19:9

The psalmist encourages us to truly value all the God has provided. More than gold, even fine gold? Sweeter than honey?

Gold has intrinsic value. For most of the world’s history, gold has been the basis for monetary systems, but we are to desire God more than material wealth or success.

Before refined sugars, honey was the common sweetener and a delicacy. God’s plan for us is sweeter than the bitterness of disappointment when we go our own way.
