Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house.

Hebrews 3:1-2

At the funeral we attended last week, I learned the man whose life we were celebrating was a fan of Andrae Crouch. The service opened with “Through it All” and concluded with “My Tribute (to God be the Glory)” and “Jesus is the Answer.”

Here’s another very simple lyric, but this song by Andrae Crouch contains a powerful message.

Always remember,
always remember
Jesus, Jesus;
always keep Him on your mind.

In today’s passage, the writer of Hebrews has a message for those of us who are believers: Remember Jesus.

The precise word is to consider Jesus. Consider means to give careful thought or to look attentively at. What are we to consider?

The first two verses of Hebrews three tell us that

• Jesus was sent from God
• He is the ultimate intercessor for us before God.
• He was faithful from beginning to end on His mission from God.
