Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
Hebrews 3: 12-14
Keeping your faith in focus can be a bit of a challenge sometimes, right? In the verses above, the writer warns us against falling “away from the living God.” Some think it isn’t possible, but I am reminded of examples like Demas in the New Testament who is described as being a partner in ministry with Paul only to abandon the apostle and the faith because of his “love for the present world (2 Timothy 4:10).”
How do we avoid an “unbelieving heart?” We stand firm in the faith when we encourage each other “every day.” Daily encouragement keeps our hearts soft and helps us avoid the “deceitfulness of sin.”
How are you encouraged in your faith daily?
