And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24-25
Years ago my company focused extensively on the idea of being present. They spoke of the idea as one of focus. We live in a distracted world where most of us are linked with some type of technology that gets in the way of living at some level. The next text, phone call, or social media post can wait and it should in many cases.
In the passage above, the writer of Hebrews presents two clear commands for believers. The first is to spur each other on, encouraging each other in Christian love and living a good productive life that honors God and the second is a command to meet together regularly.
One of the most significant obstacles presented by the lockdowns of 2020 was the relative isolation experienced by people of all walks of life and it certainly affected Christians and their churches.
I know people who still aren’t attending regularly and I’m afraid it has an impact on our lives and spiritual growth.
We need each other and I hope you’ll find yourself in a believing church this weekend.
