And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”
Isaiah 6:8
While few if any of us will receive a direct command like Isaiah in the verse above, one of the primary responsibilities of the follower of Christ is to share the message of Christ to others. Paul quotes the prophet Joel, in the tenth chapter of Romans that “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” And then he delivers this series of questions:
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Romans 10: 14-17
Isaiah was a willing messenger. So was Paul. How willing are we to follow their lead?
