The news this week includes the deaths of 10 Health Care Volunteers as they wrapped up a few weeks in the mountains of Afghanistan.  Imagine working with people help improve their sight only to be blindsided in the end.

One of the aspects of Radical Faith is taking a step out into the public arena. In the first few verses of Nehemiah, he fasted and prayed for four months before he took his first step of radical faith by engaging the King for his cause of rebuilding Jerusalem.

A dislocated heart and a broken spirit may be invisible to most of the people around us. Radical Faith requires us to make a move forward toward God’s revealed will.  Think about this. What parts of God’s will are already revealed to each of us?

2 Chronicles 16:9 has already told us that God is looking to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.

We see another picture of God’s desire in Ezekiel 30:20:

“I looked for a man from among them who would repair the wall and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land, so that I would not destroy it….”

Making a difference for God will be uncomfortable in some ways, but maintaining the status quo for another six months may be even more frustrating. As the book we’re reading says, “the public arena is a very loud place” and it is often less than friendly to a view that says “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Still God is looking for each of us to take a step of faith. It may be as small as identifying yourself as a follower of Christ in the workplace by taking a stand or maybe you are in position to take another step in ministry.
